Hold it flat and a little closer, or tap your child's picture instead.

Settings

One card per family. Brothers and sisters share the same card, and whoever is not there gets taken off on the confirmation screen.

Card type

Changing this changes every family's card. Reprint or resend them afterwards.

Which families

Cards print several to a page with dashed cut lines. Print two copies so each pickup adult has one.

Send a card to a phone

Parents can show the card on their phone screen instead of paper.

Use the tablet camera as the scanner

With this on, the back camera stays on while the kiosk sits idle and checks a family in the moment their card comes into view. No barcode scanner needed. Stand the tablet so its back camera faces where parents hold up a card. Keep it plugged in: a camera that never sleeps uses a lot of battery.

Making it reliable

  • Use the QR code card type, not the plain barcode. Cameras read QR far better than bars.
  • Set the card type on the Cards tab, then reprint.
  • Keep the spot where parents hold the card well lit and out of direct sun.
  • On an iPad: in Safari, tap AA in the address bar, then Website Settings, and set Camera to Allow. Otherwise Safari asks again every time the page reloads.
  • On an Android tablet: in Chrome, tap the lock icon in the address bar, then Permissions, Camera, Allow.

Custom range

The file opens in Excel, Numbers, or Google Sheets. It includes full names.

Settings PIN

The PIN keeps parents and children out of these settings. It is stored only on this device.

Privacy

Everything this kiosk records stays in this tablet's browser storage. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you connect your own Google Sheet on the Google Sheet tab. Clearing Safari or Chrome website data erases the roster and history, so export a CSV now and then as a backup.
